			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This has not been a particularly healthy summer.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve keep going from being extremely busy to having entire days when I have nothing to do.  When I have nothing to do, I sit around and eat all day and I don&#8217;t exercise enough.  When I&#8217;m busy, I don&#8217;t eat as much and I&#8217;m usually more active.  However, I do eat a lot more fast food because there&#8217;s no time to make anything healthy.  And as a result, I&#8217;ve gained weight.  Kind of a lot.  At least ten pounds, probably closer to 15.</p>
<p>Now, granted, some of that is muscle mass.  I went through a phase at the beginning of the month where I did tons of strength training exercises and I&#8217;ve definitely seen an increase in muscle in some parts of my body.  The rest, however, is flab.</p>
<p>So, I&#8217;m getting back on the wagon <strong>today</strong> (I say that a lot on this blog, don&#8217;t I?).  I&#8217;m going to weigh myself later and update my weight on Traineo.  I&#8217;m also going to start working out again and not eating everything in sight.  I&#8217;m excited and scared at the same time&#8230;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I think I fear commitment.  I get off track with something (exercise) and am too scared to return because I&#8217;m afraid that I will have gained four pounds.  I stopped exercising for a week at the beginning of January (new semester began) and then I was afraid to weigh myself after that because I thought I had gained weight.  I kept exercising but wouldn&#8217;t weight myself until the beginning of February.  When I did weigh myself, the results were positive.  I had reached my first 5-pound loss milestone.</p>
<p>This week has been bad for me.  I&#8217;ve been kind of sick and I&#8217;ve been eating way too much and not exercising enough.  I&#8217;m afraid to step on the scale.  I set a goal to lose five more pounds in 30 more days (which will end in a week or two).  So far, I&#8217;ve only lost 2 or 3 pounds.  The first five were easy, but these are becoming more difficult.  I&#8217;m afriad that I&#8217;m not going to make my goal in time.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m jumping back on the wagon TODAY, but will it be enough time?!  I really hope so.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I think my main weakness is the evening.  I&#8217;ve noticed that the majority of my discretionary eating takes place in the evening; most specifically after dinner.  My portion control for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are alright, and my snacks are usually pretty healthy but after I&#8217;ve eaten dinner, everything hits the fan.  My desserts are too large and my &#8216;midnight snacking&#8217; has gotten out of hand.  I&#8217;ve got to work on that from now on.</p>
<p>In other news, I pigged out on New Year&#8217;s Eve/Day.  I suppose it was fitting, though; the last night of 2008 and of my eating habits.  I did pretty well during the day on New Year&#8217;s Eve; by 4 PM I had only consumed about 600 calories and was getting ready for the evening festivities.  Even dinner was pretty good, but, as usual, post-dinner eating was my undoing.  Regardless, I&#8217;m done with that now and I am ready to move forward.</p>
<p>I gained back about a pound and a half of the four pounds that I lost in the last week, but I&#8217;m attributing it to muscle mass.  Am I creating some sort of dilusional euphamism for myself?  I hope not.  My abs <em>are</em> starting to come back out under the jelly, so I guess that&#8217;s a good sign.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m ready for the fruits of this labor.</p>

<p>I kind of completely forgot about the rules that I made for myself the last time that I posted.  I&#8217;m not even kidding.  Completely got lost in the craziness of my life.  But luckily I haven&#8217;t really broken any of them yet (except for the new desserts business- screw that.  I need some incentives in my life so I&#8217;m forgetting that rule).  So hopefully I&#8217;ll remember these rules in the morning.</p>
<p>Good news:  I lost four pounds this week.  I&#8217;ve been working my ass of on Wii Fit.  Wii Fit is actually quite amazing; it has helped me to vary my exercises and has made working out very fun.  It&#8217;s an excellent motivator and I&#8217;m so thankful for it.  Plus, it&#8217;s nice to be able to weight myself accurately.  I&#8217;m trying to do at least thirty minutes every day, which I&#8217;ve been keeping up with (even though it&#8217;s only been three days).  Today I did my usual thirty minutes plus an extra thirty minutes of intense cardio.</p>
<p>2009 is going to be an awesome year.  Happy New Year!</p>

<p>Really.</p>
<p>Good news is that I haven&#8217;t had any soda in fifteen months.  I think that&#8217;s pretty badass and I&#8217;m quite proud of myself.  Bad news is that I&#8217;ve kind of fallen off the wagon.  My eating habits are less than perfect and my exercise schedule is non-existant.  Well, actually it&#8217;s existant but it&#8217;s really nothing special.  Becuase of time constraints and the weather, it&#8217;s basically walking three times a week for 45 minutes.  It sucks, but it&#8217;s better than nothing.</p>
<p>The better news is that I&#8217;m going to get whipped into shape (literally).  I want to set some major boundaries for myself and I am really committed to making this work a year later.  So here are my new rules:</p>
<ul>
<li>No soda.  I only drink water and iced tea (usually with Splenda) right now, and I&#8217;ve been keeping to this for 15 months.</li>
<li>No french fries.  I started with this and kind of stopped, so I&#8217;m starting again.</li>
<li>Healthier eating at restaurants.  Better portion control and healthier choices.</li>
<li>2000 calories a day.  I&#8217;m pretty close to this already, so this won&#8217;t be a huge problem.</li>
<li>NO dessert.  Ugh.</li>
<li>More intense exercise more often.  Logistics TBD.</li>
<li>More fresh fruits &amp; veggies.</li>
</ul>
<p>So there you have it.  I know this is going to be hard, but I think I can do it.  I&#8217;m going to prove to myself that I can do this.  My fresh start is starting now.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s been almost five months since I&#8217;ve had a sip of soda.  I&#8217;ve had one cup of coffee from Starbucks.  I&#8217;ve had few potato chips.  I&#8217;ve barely been running since Halloween.  You see, I&#8217;d prefer not to freeze my ass off outside running in sub-freezing temperatures.  But, hey, that&#8217;s just me.  I wish I could drive to the gym, because I&#8217;d be there every morning if I had the ability to go there on my own.</p>
<p>I haven&#8217;t updated my Traineo widgets (see sidebar) in a few months.  I stopped counting calories religiously and measuring my workouts because I became obsessive with it.  I&#8217;m seriously looking forward to the spring so that I&#8217;ll have time to run again and I can do it without fear of going for a run and falling down and freezing to death like the old ladies in that commercial.</p>
<p>One of my resolutions for this year is to post here more often.  Nobody reads it, but it&#8217;s nice to have an anonymous blog to post on about this kind of private stuff.  I want to lose 20 lbs. this year.  I&#8217;m sure the cake that I just baked isn&#8217;t going to be very helpful in achieving my goal.  Oh, well.</p>

<li>Chicken nuggets from Chic-Fil-A.  No fast food in that long, either.  The only fast food that I will eat is Cool Wraps from Chic-Fil-A, an occasional salad from McDonalds, and sometimes those snack wraps from McDonalds (they&#8217;re not that bad).</li>
<li>To go running.  School is taking up all my time and I haven&#8217;t been running in forever.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s almost impossible to be healthy during the school year.  Not only have I not had any time/energy to exercise over the past week or two, but my meals have been horrible.</p>
<p>Eating breakfast at 6 AM does not leave the door open for many healthy choices.  My breakfast needs to be prepared in less than ten minutes, and it needs to be very light since I&#8217;m not even hungry at 6.</p>
<p>Lunch always has to be portable and small.  I will say that my lunches are pretty balanced, but there is still room for improvement.</p>
<p>Snacks are my vice.  I always need to have a quick snack in between school and everything else.  I&#8217;ve promised that I&#8217;m not going to waste my money in vending machines anymore, so my snacks are mostly crackers or pretzels.</p>
<p>Dinner recently has been whatever I can pull together since I&#8217;ve been so busy (last night, I didn&#8217;t even have time for dinner).  Needless to say, it&#8217;s not that nutritional.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t think that I&#8217;ve been eating way too many calories&#8230;I try to shoot for 1900 per day, but I think that I&#8217;ve been closer to 2100 or 2200 daily over the past two weeks, with less exercise than I would like.  I hate school.</p>

<p>1940 mg of sodium?  610 calories?  No thanks!  Instead, I had a Caeser salad, iced tea, and mashed potatoes (from KFC).  480 calories total, and way less sodium, fat, cholesterol, and carbs.</p>
<p>Total calories today?  2070!  456 were burned due to exercise alone (I had some issues today with running).  Go me!</p>
